Edit:
I was able to get my touchscreen and FN key working after I found the mer repos on the Opensuse build service thing!

So instead of starting a new thread, I just wanted to ask if anyone know how I can modify the keymapping to make the "chr" key (on n810) act like "alt". Also, I want to make the left shift key act like "tab". I would think that its just a simple config file, but I haven't found it yet.

Thanks!

Original Post:
Hello. I recently installed Ubuntu on my N810, and everything is working except for my FN key and my touchscreen. The touchscreen itself works, but the cursor sticks and tries to constantly right-click, making it impossible to use the virtual keyboard.

I have done a lot of searching around. It seems the solution to my problems are through the installation of xserver-xorg-input-tslib=0.0.5-1mer7, xkb-data, and evdev from the Mer repos as described in this posts:

http://forums.internettablettalk.com...0&postcount=66

Unfortunately, the Mer repos are down, and they don't seem like they are coming back:

http://forums.internettablettalk.com...&postcount=136

I really need these 3 packages to get my system working. Does anyone know where I can find either their deb files, or a mirror to the repos? I find it hard to believe that all the development put into mer is no longer available anywhere.

As an alternative, I do have the rootfs from Mer .15... Does anyone know how I can pull the necessary files directly from there if worst comes to worst?

Thanks in advance for any help, I would really appreciate it if someone could supply those 3 debs (and their dependencies)

Not sure, but there may be something useful at http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Maemo:/Mer:/

And in particular at http://download.opensuse.org/reposit...oCommon:/L10n/

Edit: And then again, maybe not after taking a look.

For evdev, would this be useful?

https://code.launchpad.net/~mer-comm...put-evdev-n810

From that link scroll down and click '3' and click Files.

And found some random code for xserver-xorg-input-tslib=0.0.5-1mer7 that I have zero idea if this is useful (does it also reside in the tspre.org repo?).

wget http://packages.tspre.org/repo.key
apt-key add repo.key
apt-get update
apt-get -t alpha install cx3110x-module cx3110x-umac-module ke-recv-l10n-public kernel-diablo-modules-fbcon kernel-diablo mce-dummy nokia-n8x0-firmware nokia-tablets-pointercal omap-fb-console omap-fb-tools usbnet-emergency-telnetd utelnetd xresponse-visualize tablet-wireless xserver-xorg-video-omapfb synaptic aptitude console-tools
apt-get install ubuntu-rescue-menu ubuntu-omap-fb-splash nit-bootmenu-compat
apt-get install xserver-xorg-input-tslib=0.0.5-1mer7
apt-get remove xserver-xorg-input-all xserver-xorg-input-synaptics

No idea. Sorry, above my head. Just sweating out some Guinness.

Actually, that was VERY useful!!! After poking around, I found this:
http://download.opensuse.org/reposit...5/Ubuntu_9.04/

It seems to be exactly what I am looking for!
I was able to install the tslib, and now my touchscreen is working perfectly!

However, I still need to get my FN key working.

Does anyone know how to add http://download.opensuse.org/reposit...5/Ubuntu_9.04/ as a repository, like the line in /etc/apt/sources.list? I tried:
deb http://download.opensuse.org/reposit...5/Ubuntu_9.04/ armel
but it didn't work. I feel like I'm really close though.

Thanks!

Once again no idea if this helps but on this opensuse repo install page ( http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Add_package_repositories ) there is a screenshot that shows a sample URL to enter and it seems to have some extension to it http://en.opensuse.org/images/5/50/A...on-source2.png

Dunno if that can be applied in Maemo though.

Aha! I figured it out! the proper line was:
deb http://download.opensuse.org/reposit...5/Ubuntu_9.04/ /
I was able to switch to the mer packages for xkb-data, evdev, hal, libhal1 and now my FN key works!!

This is great, thanks for your help!

One last question, though I'm sure I'll figure it out soon: How can I adjust my keymapping so the "Chr" key acts as "alt"? That key is pretty much useless right now, but I want to be able to use it to move windows that are too big for the screen.

Thanks again!
