on the subject of GMA500.. don't let it totally dissuade you away from, say, the Fujitsu U820 (aka U2010). It's a great machine, and you can get linux working on it pretty well with accelerate video, it's not too hard but it isn't trivial.
there's now a pre-prepared ubuntu with the drivers installed up-front, so that's a real step forward

I am very happy with my U2010, I don't know what I'd replace it with if it broke, there's nothing quite like it around, it really does do the job of a handheld linux laptop.

The Sharp Netwalker (successor to the Zaurus line) [http://pricejapan.com/front/e_good_i...76&category=5] seems to be about the closest to an n810 successor that I've seen. 5 inch display, keyboard, wifi/bluetooth, Ubuntu OS, ARM-based Freescale CPU, MicroSDHC (the N810 has dual full size SD, but the micro cards have come up in capacity), 4GB internal flash, 512MB RAM. Street price in US seems to float around $500.00

Doesn't begin to compare with the N810. Too bulky, too heavy, too powerhungry.

Agreed with lma. Some of us are looking for a "MID" form-factor not UMPC. Pocketable is key. ARM > x86 as far as battery life is concerned.
