Hi!
I too have problem with Pidgin and Facebook.
Beginning around the end of february, when talking to a facebook contact, after typing the first line i would receive an error message, and then my contact would complain of receiving THREE (3) COPIES of each line I'd type.
Lately if login to my facebook account from pidgin, it would simply crash pidgin.
I tried to uninstall the facebook plugin AND pidgin and reinstall everything, but it still crashes.
It's too bad because I like going only on http://m.facebook.com for checking facebook news feed, and using pidgin for all the facebook chatting, when using my nokia n800. It's lighter on the CPU and runs smoother. Now that's not an option anymore.
Can anybody find what's happening and find a solution?
Pidgin = 2.5.1-2nix0
Pidgin Facebook Support = 1.36-0nix3
OS2008 Diabo 5.2008.43-7

Hmm. Still works perfectly for me, and I've reflashed recently, installed it again about a weeka ago. Although I did manually put in the .so script and the icons folder (from the dev's Google Code page), as I didn't realise there was a .deb.

If it's still not working, you can always use Tear for browsing, the proper Facebook homepage works a hell of a lot better than with the default browser.

You need to update the facebook chat plugin. Download the latest .so file (1.50) from here

http://code.google.com/p/pidgin-face...ookarm-1.50.so

You need to put the file in /usr/lib/pidgin/. You must make sure you remove the previous libfacebookarm-***.so file or it will conflict and continue to crash.

Thank you darrennewman. That worked perfectly.
Any idea why this version of the Pidgin Facebook Support is not on the repos at the moment?

Just so other users in the same situation as I was would know:

-I had no libfacebookarm-***.so file in /usr/lib/pidgin/ (so I had nothing to remove at the first place)
-However I first removed Pidgin Facebook Support from the Application Manager
-You need to be root to copy the new file to /usr/lib/pidgin/

Im not sure who compiled the Facebook Support on repos but they are not connected with the plugin makers, so version 1.36 must have been the latest version available when they compiled it.

Also if you remove the Pidgin Facebook Support with Application Manager you will probably have to manually install the facebook icons, which can be downloaded here

http://code.google.com/p/pidgin-face...s.zip&can=2&q=

Unzip them and place them in /usr/share/pixmaps/pidgin/protocols

They are not vital. They appear on your contact list next to your friends to show they are a facebook contact and in some of the menus. Just looks tidier.
