Hi people!

Check out this thread (the last few pages), in which they claim that the N900 is really capable of USB host mode, just the appropriate driver needs fixing.

I thought maybe some of the kernel hackers here could help them out?

@hawaii: fbcon is broken in 2.6.28/omap and leads to lots of crashing.
but if you need a kernel image with fbcon for testing, here is it
http://maemory.com/N900/kernel/zImage-fbcon

@Venemo thanks, but AFAIK most people here are following the USB thread since it started.

hi titan, could you include tiny patch into your kernel for fixing mmc device names?

thanks, I think would add it the next version.
are you sure bootmenu or other components do not depend on the broken device numbering?

bootmenu works in both cases. With other components I guess it could only help. I can hardly imagine component that would depend on current state of mmc device name being random. Without the patch internal eMMC name (as seen by kernel) is changing between mmcblk1 and 0 depending or microSD being inserted at boot time or not. With this patch device names are same no matter what. In reality it is not that bad since udev rules try to hide it. It only matters at boot time or when something is using low level info like parsing /proc/partitions or assuming that /dev/mmcblk0 and /sys/block/mmcblk0 matches etc..

I wish i could get the changes to a package *IN THE APPLICATION MANAGER* - maybe in the description field.

Lots of updates to this package lately (version 32 now) and i spent 1/2 hour searching for descriptions. Waste of my time.

Thanks.
