Lucky you. I updated mine and now I have the famous Black Screen Of Death

Yes, I know how to fix it. I just do not have the time. Nor the drive as I hardly ever use it any more after my upgrade back to N900.

I have been seeing many problems about to upgrading of the sailfish system. In my case, i updated all my devices (3) without any problem. Do not blame the image OS.

As it appened to me I got both

First time, when updating from Iijoki 2.1.0.11, the update downloaded OK, but hit problems when updating 487 out of 725 packages. (that'd be about 67% through...)
After that when the device booted I was on BSOD.
And I certainly had enough disk space and no mods/patches that I should have disabled.

So, got to recovery mode and checked that my backup fs is current, and then factory reset to Kaajanlampi 1.0.0.5
Took me almost 4 hours to update the device through all the needed SW levels, cannot remember actually how many releases I downloaded and installed but it must have been 6 or 7 or so.
(I think it finally updated straight to Iijoki from Saimaa without going through intermediate releases)

OK, finally around 5:30 in the morning when I was back to Jämsänjoki it was stable, HURRAA!
BUT, then I realised I only had WLAN, no GSM/WCDMA/LTE at all... rebooted the device twice and same thing... bummer

I was so damn tired I shut down the deveice and thought that I'd downgrade it back to 2.1.0.11 in the morning.
Went to bed, slept 6 hours straight and when I booted up the device to downgrade it, WOT! seems I got my networks back immediately

So, now am running Jämsänjoki 2.1.1.24, no problems whatsoever yet.

Updated Intex Aqua Fish and Jolla Tablet without difiiculties.
Strange thing for me: Both devices can't access SailfishOS Update in Menu anymore.

Keep pressing it and nothing happens....

Also Jolla Tablet doesnt seem to work with my Bluetooth headphones anymore - Intex works....strange

Is everyone with a BSOD updating via the terminal rather than from settings?
Why is there a need to do this? Just to see info fly past?

Also via settings/updates, and I also had console open where I did "journalctl -a -f" to see progress.

If you have Patchmanage2 installed remove the 'remove all patches on update' patch ... or update patchmanager2

One would have assumed that the man of your caliber would be able to rescue your precious without a factory reset
I tried but found that there was no pkcon in recovery mode and I had to follow the same steps, except I had to make a backup first.

cannot remember actually how many releases I downloaded and installed but it must have been 6 or 7 or so.
Let's see:
  • 1.0.0.5 Kaajanlampi (starting point after factory reset)
  • 1.0.2.5 Maadajävri
  • 1.1.2.16 Yliaavanlampi
  • 1.1.7.28 Björnträsket (off-topic observation: it looks like "bread basket" )
  • 1.1.9.30 Eineheminlampi
  • 2.0.0.10 Saimaa
  • 2.1.1.24 Jämsänjoki

Wow, you were spot on! Literally "6 or 7", depending on whether you count the starting point.
