Could you not write an entirely new program to emulate a locked screen, and then re-map the slider button to run/kill it?

...Isn't that the same thing to what you quoted? I can't, I'm no coder. Ask CSSU-group, if they'd have any interest on doing it.

ok, i get it. single pixel activation.

wont work on lcds.
needs led / oled display.

but something similar would be like has been said lcd without backlight (like the screen on the n900 during flashing)

Are there any models out there with a screen that works like that, with at least as much resolution as the one in the N900, that got the same dimensions and similar enough plug/cable to the point you at most would need an adapter plug and the right drivers to get it working on the N900?
