At least this is what I'm trying to build... man I wish I could work with SMD technology

yeah,maybe N8X0 is not a mobile phone,but external battery pack is used for phones,For my phone, I use a solar power charger which gets me about 10-15hrs per charge, Universal USB Charger Kit, Emergency Cell Phone Charger (4-AAA gets about 30 mins) (I also have a few other travel, car/plane/plug/battery, chargers that I have not yet tried that might work out)

6x1.2v=7.2v - 0.4v (diode 1n4002) = 6.8v / 0.800A ~= 8.5 ohm and 5.44W power to dissipate, this for the two packs, so we have a power of 2000+2000mAh = 4000mAh not bad i think, sorry for my bad english and VERY poor electronic knowledge
