Hey Guys,

I am new to N810.
I am unable to uninstall Canola on N810. As per some replies on this forum I have already tried reformatting internal memory and running canola cleaup, but no success yet.

The error I get is:
Unable to install canola-tuning. Some application packages required for the installation are missing.

Details:
libgcc1
libglib2
libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-0
libgstreamer0.10-0
dpkg
libgcc
libncurses5, and many more. What am I missing?
Please HELP!

If would try "sudo apt-get -f install" in your case. But I'm a linux noob, so doesn't sure this helps.

The root password, if you didn't change that, is "rootme".

did you install a program to give you root access? If not, you need to in order to gain root-authority.

As far as canola installing, are you sure it isn't the version from the extras-testing repository? (is extras-testing in your list of repositories in the application manager)

My tablet don't even ask for a password for this command.
There is a wiki page about becoming root on this site. Btw, you're welcome.

notnarb, thanks for your reply!
I have not installed any program to get root access. How do I go that?

I do not have extras-testing repository in app manager. Can you give me the address I need to enter to add this repository?
Thanks again

As you are using an N810 (and OS2008/Maemo4/Diablo) you do not want to use extras-testing as that is for OS Fremantle/Maemo5).

If all you want to do is install Canola on your N810 just make sure you got the Maemo-Extras repo available.

(It should point to http://repository.maemo.org/extras/

Silvermountain, thanks for the reply!
I do have maemo extras (and not extras-testing).
When I try to install canola, as mentioned earlier, I get error message stating that I am missing application packages.

My day is not ending on a good note

Edit: I am also not able to install other similar apps like streamtuner or vagalume. Get error stating that I am missing application packages. I see my N810 becoming a very expensive Skype phone.
