I'm trying to get a 32GB micro sd card but my current 8GB doesn't seem to work on my N900. It works fine on my PC but my N900 will not reconize it.

This has come up quite a few times here already - you might find help if you search around a bit.

tip: google for something like "site:talk.maemo.org sd card not recognized" - much better than the built-in search of these forums.

For starters, use the "dmesg" command in X-Term and see if you can see the card mentioned in the output - might give you a clue as to what's going on....

The 8GB should work fine. Can you try to format it on your N900, or does it totally not see it? I have a 32GB card, which also works fine. Does any card work on your N900?

It's the only card that I have and it simply doesn't reconize it at all.

Um, try formatting it again on your PC and then try it again.

Just to understand, did you buy a 32 GB card without having tried a card on your N900? Did the 8 GB card ever work on the N900?

Anyway, I predict the 32 GB card will work for you. You might look at the slot on your N900 and make sure everything looks ok.

Try some contact spray on the card.

You will probably find it is the clip holding down the sd card and is not pushing it down properly to the contacts.

The older the N900 the more chances you could also have lost the tiny magnet located under the clip stand on the rear, check that also ok.

Did you put the back cover on, after putting the sd card in?

n900 will not recognize any sd card unless back cover in on.
