Several of the early adopter reviews have hinted at the fact that the 770 is pretty light in working memory, with "only" 64mb available, and will choke on hefty web sites.

I'd like to know if this is a permanent situation, or that it can be remedied by using a memory card, e.g. with a swap partition on it (if possible).

Any thoughts?

I'm guessing that 64Mb is the user space available, and that you can put larger sizes in there. If you are going to use the 770 as a remote display then the application that is remote to you can be 4 Gb or more and there will be no problem for you since your 64 Mb only has to manage the display.
