As root, do the following

Code:
mv /var/lib/dpkg/info/com.laminar-research.app.xplane-carrier.list /var/lib/dpkg/info/com.laminar-research.app.xplane-carrier.backup
and try installing again.

* Assuming com.laminar etc. is the filename of the actual list.

Looks like you were installing some alien package for webos or android??? Search the forum for threads please or try
Code:
sudo gainroot
dpkg -r --force-remove-reinstreq com.laminar-research.app.xplane-carrier
But may be you should change the package name to fit the stuff you were installing.

i had the same fatal unrecoverable error. i tried the solution and it worked.
finally my n900 was working aftr a year n half. thn i startd installing apps and while doing so i dont knw what happened and again app manager crashed.
now its even worse thn the last time. i cant open camera . it says memory not accessible. i cant install or del apps.
i dnt even knw the proper error. app mangr says manully do (dpkg--configure-a) but it also shows error that cant open/create lock files:no more space.

You need some root enabling package like rootsh, sudser, opensshor the like installed to correct this error.
If you do not have any of these installed, you might just go and try to make a backup of your settings and contacts and stuff and reflash.
Then you might closely look at the memory space on rootfs, /home, MyDocs and swap. Some might be corrupted. But again you need some root enabling packages for this to work out.
