Sound works in "v3d" too, you just need to initialize it... through X-term in maemo.... see the first post....

for "rotation" even i have to use shortcutd every now and then... just install Shortcutd and set "Cam Key Long press" Or "Proximity" to "Toggle Rotation"...
it helps me to rotate most of the apps including "Angry Birds"
&
"MicroEmulator" for some Odd resolution 5800 java games like "Snake & Ladders "
i tried to rotate "Vlc" tho.. bt n luck there...

Can you send me your background file of panel?
Also how to add applications from "start" menu to desktop? When i hold mouse cursor on app i get "Add to desktop" option, but when I click that nothing happens
