Is there any app out there that takes over the whole screen and turns the tablet into a digital clock, complete with alarms (preferably alarms that can trigger internet radio)??

I think this would be awesome.

i've thought the same thing...

The device would make great bedside system... for the 800 you could even add fm radio in addition to replacing my alarm clock it could replace my soundbridge for mp3s and internet radio. I would miss my weather guage to tell temp but maybe a web (data feed) weather forecast too!

There is Maemochron, a Python app. Unfortunately it ate an otherwise full battery in a matter of hours.

I suspect it isn't very proactive at not using the CPU. If you carry your mains adapter with you, however, it may do what you want.

I am very interested in this.

In fact, this would be the perfect accompaniment to the N800 that I have gifted my wife.

I put up $20 to the person who can do this (paypal). If others want to join in that would be awesome.
  • Take over the screen and display current time in digital format
  • Set/Edit Alarm Time
  • Choose 1 mp3 from local collection for playback as alarm music

I'll add $20 to the pot. But, I want one more feature. Basically, a sleep timer like my clock radio. I want to be able to set, say 15-60 minutes of time to play an MP3 and then stop. And, while playing the MP3, I should be able to use the buttons to add or subtract time from the timer (say in 15 minute intervals).

There is another thread about this (that I started...) here:

So far no luck, but I bet we'll get one sooner or later... Keep up the good fight!

It also doesn't work with python 2.5... But, yes - please look into it. =)
