So, it's now April, and I understand the devices loaned out at the summit must be returned this month. What are the exact timeframes and logistics for this? The next few weeks are looking quite busy here with some travel involved and I don't want to accidentally hoard mine past its return date.

Thanks to everyone involved in making the loan program happen btw, it was very much appreciated :-)

I didn't have an Amsterdam loaner, but from September and I think the procedure of returning is the same.

Look into the loaner agreement/NDA. There is an address where you have to send the device (at your costs, I presume). I added a short note in the package requesting a short e-mail confirmation upon receipt, and got the confirmation.
Just make sure, you include everything you got. In my case it was device, battery, and charger. In your case, it might have been the complete retail-box.

I actually wonder what happens if I don't send it back. We'll see.

I presume that the loaned devices were pre-release ones.

So what's the point of returning them?
What will Nokia do with them?

I was assuming that Nokia would send us a request to send them back. In my case, I am more than happy to send it back, but it's now dead.

I will make arrangements to send it back soon, I guess.

My return date would have been September 2010, but since I didn't use the loaner anymore and there's a waiting list of people who receive the returned loaners, I returned mine earlier.

Could Nokia post the exact details somewhere? I'm not sure if I will find that slip of paper any more.

Check with Nokia before returning devices.

What will happen for sure is that you will contradict an agreement you signed.

If someone has a good reason to keep it that translates into concrete results (Extras apps, bugzilla work...) then please send me an email explaining the reasons.

Otherwise please just do what you agreed to do. We will circulate further those devices among community developers. There is still a queue at http://wiki.maemo.org/Fremantle_Developer_Device_Queue
