There are now current upstream version (1.2.3) of Mumble (http://mumble.sourceforge.net/) on Extras-devel.

It has patch from Ubuntu Natty (11.04) to compile it gles (workaround: disables gl-calls): https://launchpadlibrarian.net/66967...buntu4.diff.gz

It is configured to use system's libcelt, but it's own (bundled) libspeex.

Problems:
* when mumble is running (even not active window) status bar can't be used.
* Configure -> settings will crash.

These are pretty critical but I do not have any idea how to fix them. Mumble is using QT, so if you know QT please help.

For the rest of us:
Mumble is a voice chat application for groups. While it can be used for any kind of activity, it is primarily intended for gaming. It can be compared to programs like Ventrilo or TeamSpeak. People tend to simplify things, so when they talk about Mumble they either talk about "Mumble" the client application or about "Mumble & Murmur" the whole voice chat application suite.

It sometimes uses a lot CPU, even when I'm not connected to server.

Mumble seems to open this useless menu when you click the title:

Maybe removing it would help in this problem :/

Maybe it is all the time analyzing input, which can be viewed on: Menu->Self->Audio Statistics

This is not totally useless. There are 'Minimal view', which doesn't have any other menus (and no other way to go back normal view).

Another question is: Is 'Minimal view' useful at all? (And how hard disabling it will be?)
