What should 'uname -a' show, if the kernel was correctly flashed?

Look at the date. It says 'Sep 21' on mine, which is the date the kernel was built. As this is newer than the release date of the _previous_ firmware, it must be the new one. 'cat /proc/version' is another way of checking the date.

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but there were changes to the metalayer-crawler, which should fix some issues that people have with it.

Here are all the files that seem to be about metalayer-crawler. I've left out all that are just symbolic links.

-rwxr-xr-x root/root 1712 2007-02-06 16:39 ./etc/init.d/metalayer-crawler0
-rw-r--r-- root/root 288 2007-04-18 10:05 ./var/lib/dpkg/info/metalayer-crawler0.md5sums
-rwxr-xr-x root/root 132 2007-06-29 12:39 ./var/lib/dpkg/info/libmetalayer0.postrm
-rw-r--r-- root/root 575 2007-06-29 12:39 ./var/lib/dpkg/info/libmetalayer0.shlibs
-rw-r--r-- root/root 31 2007-04-18 10:05 ./var/lib/dpkg/info/metalayer-crawler0.conffiles
-rwxr-xr-x root/root 135 2007-06-29 12:39 ./var/lib/dpkg/info/libmetalayer0.postinst
-rwxr-xr-x root/root 184 2007-04-18 10:04 ./var/lib/dpkg/info/metalayer-crawler0.postrm
-rw-r--r-- root/root 1126 2007-06-29 12:39 ./var/lib/dpkg/info/libmetalayer0.md5sums
-rwxr-xr-x root/root 302 2007-04-18 10:04 ./var/lib/dpkg/info/metalayer-crawler0.prerm
-rw-r--r-- root/root 250 2007-09-24 10:27 ./var/lib/dpkg/info/metalayer-crawler0.list
-rwxr-xr-x root/root 361 2007-04-18 10:04 ./var/lib/dpkg/info/metalayer-crawler0.postinst
-rwxr-xr-x root/root 22904 2007-04-18 10:04 ./usr/bin/metalayer-crawler
-rw-r--r-- root/root 28688 2007-06-29 12:39 ./usr/lib/libmetalayer.so.0.0.0
-rw-r--r-- root/root 939 2007-06-29 12:39 ./usr/share/libmetalayer/metadata_lib.conf

The only updated file is /var/lib/dpkg/info/metalayer-crawler0.list, and that's in the package installation database, nothing that affects the running of the application. If there were changes to metalayer-crawler they must be in non-obvious places..

I found this:

https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=978

Which seems to indicate that a bug with metalayer-crawler was fixed with this release. Has libid3 changed at all?

The RX-34_2007SE_4.2007.26-8 version mentioned in the bug report (where a libid3 bug was fixed) was the next-to-last release, the last one with the SD/SDHC corruption bug fixed was RX-34_2007SE_4.2007.38-2. There are no additional libid3 fixes in 38-2.

I'm attaching a zip file with a list w/dates of all the files of the root image of 38-2, those who want can simply unpack the zip file and look at the list of files to find the modification date. The list excludes all symbolic links, all directories (not the files therein) and all device files. I.e. only proper files are included, as the date/time of the rest is irrelevant.

Argh, the file is just slightly too big for the .zip file attachment limit.. so I'll put it here:
http://www.box.net/shared/zaj5id7dau
The file name is list-of-files-rx34_2007SE_4.2007_38-2.zip
