Hey, I have been some trouble with configuring my n800 to view my desktop. I followed this guide (tinyurl.com/18r), but i keep getting the "Could not connect to Server" message. I have the latest version of Ubuntu and I've never used VNC b4 so plzzz post a reply!

"http://tinyurl.com/18r" is a blank page. (I checked the page source, a couple of tags, no content.)

Make sure you're running...

vncserver :1
... to use the current desktop otherwise it'll try to connect to a new session. As well, the port for this should be 5901 (though depending on the flavour of VNC it might still be 5900 regardless of the screen # specified.)

On your N800 your connection address should be something like :

192.168.1.10:5901

Mine (on Ubuntu) updates the screen on my tablet every 5 mins or so. Sometimes a few times every 10-15 secs or so if I'm lucky.

Oh, looking at that website, it looks like he's giving the screen # instead of the port. Where he puts:

192.168.1.10:0

instead try

192.168.1.10:5900

... and see if that works. IPs with 192.168.x.x are local to only your network so yes, if you're trying this way both machines should be on the same accesspoint.

ok, this is the ip adress of my comp. : 192.168.2.150
Is this what i am suppose to type in my n800?
192.168.2.150:5900
If so, it's not working..It's giving me the same old "Could not Connect to Server..."

You might have to change some things on your router. Go into the router configuration and enable (or setup) NAT (Network Address Translation). For 192.168.2.150 enable port forwarding on port 5900. Check your router manual or google for more info (every router's different).

Ok, it tried setting up port forwarding on my router, but the problem still persists!!
Here is a link to a screen shot of what i am doing. I have an SMC router if it helps.
