I don't know why I'm so infatuated with the OS2008 default theme, but I am non the less.

I also posted this question in my intro thread, but thought it might be a good idea to post it here as well.

Does anyone know of a theme, that mimics the theme from OS2008?

For those who are unsure which theme I'm talking about, it's this one:

I have been using the LCARS theme, but felt I needed something easier on the eyes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Also, if you know any good resources on skinning maemo and also for themes, I'd appreciate that as well.

Well, since OS2008 is the first release to support transparency on the tasknavigator, statusbar, and desktop applets, you probably won't find a theme like that for 770 (unless Nokia releases an OS2008 hacker edition).

As for theming resources, there is a howto, but it's for OS2008.

To make themes for earlier OS releases, you might try Urho Konttori's ThemeMaker: https://garage.maemo.org/projects/thememaker/

Older versions (which are still available) produced themes which worked on OS2006 and 2007, but I'm not sure about the latest release.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply Ian. I was thinking about using *fake transparency* to mimic the transparency effect. (But you'd be stuck with having to use one wallpaper per theme.)

I downloaded the them maker, but didn't quite understand how to run it. Do I need something extra then just the theme maker?

The theme shown above is sgc.black. You can find it here with other versions...

Thank you very much for that link. You wouldn't happen to know where I could get the wallpaper shown in the original post?

I need it to start theming (or attempt to) a OS2008 theme knockoff.

Thanks a bunch!

Yes, it is very nice. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I'm still looking after the 'echo' wallpaper in the OP.

Update,

Thanks to a very kind individual, I now have the 'echo' wallpaper.

I'll be making a theme based on the OS2008 'Echo' theme for us N770 users, but since I'm new to skinning the N770, it could take some time. (Although looks simple enough. )

Shoot, my N770 just got the WSOD. So I'm officially dropping the N770 and going to look for a good deal on either the N800 or N810.

Has anyone had any WSOD on these devices? Seems like a ton of N770 users have experienced this. (Boo Nokia) So if the new IT's suffer from the same thing, I'll look elsewhere.
