Ah, thanks. It seems more likely that the N800 is not detecting it as a phone as it's detected as a PDA, even after removing and readding it.



I can edit the class, icon, and services but even after doing that, closing gconfig-editor, and reopening it, I can't add the dun_* keys. (I use CDMA)

Mine was also detected as PDA before repairing it after the DUN hack... Probably the DUN is the reason it is detected as phone.

Whoa! Using the connection manager to connect to Bluetooth-PAN still couldn't detect the phone, the Bluetooth devices control panel is still showing it as a PDA (I used gconfig to unsuccessfully search for pda and PDA), but the Phone control panel's "Selected phone" drop-down box now listed my phone name and choosing it allowed me to connect to Bluetooth-PAN successfully.

Edit: Note, I had to make all the gconfig changes qwerty12 had in his first screenshot, except the DUN_* which I couldn't add.

Now to find out if Bluetooth-PAN is as fast as WMWiFiRouter so I don't feel the need to buy it.

Just curious, but does the PPC 6700 /w WM 6.1 have the same features as the Verizon XV6700 /w WM 5?

If it does, you may have a possibility to enable DUN access with this old trick:

1. Go to the PHONE application
2. ##3328873
3. enter code 000000
4. Select BT DUN
5. Click Edit
6. Choose enable
7. Select WMODEM
8. Click Edit
9. Choose enable
10. Push Save / OK
11. Push Ok
12. follow the prompt to restart your device

discover services, and voila! you've got bluetooth DUN available.

That did the trick for me with a XV6700 and my N810 when I needed to pair them. No longer have the 6700, so for the 6800 the only way I could get DUN to work was installing PdaNet. Hope this info. was helpful.

Ah, the code I need for EPST (after checking the 6700's registry) is ##778. But after entering the unlock code there's no step 4 (Select BT DUN).

Anyone know if DUN is faster than PAN?

How do you use PdaNet with a NIT? My smartphone says the Windows desktop software needs to be running and the phone connected to the computer.

BTW: I ran Internet speed tests on dslreports.com ...

Using Bluetooth-Pan: 160-165 kbits/sec
Using WMWiFiRouter: ~250 kbits/sec

Bluetooth is slower than WiFI and I guess WiFI is meant for sharing internet anyway :/

(Technically not true but Wifi = networking and bluetooth is a jack of all trades and can be found in things like low powered phones etc)

The cool thing is I found a free program that does what WMWiFiRouter ($30 USD) does:

ICS Control is a GUI front-end for Internet Connection Sharing, a component of Microsoft Windows Mobile. It can be configured to do a variety of things including sharing your cellular internet connection over an adhoc WiFi network.

The only problem is I haven't been able to get it to work on my hacked WM 6.1 on a PPC 6700 yet. Maybe I need to uninstall the WMWiFiRouter trial.

Update: I got it working! And it's 340 kbit/sec on my N800! :P That's twice the speed I was getting with Bluetooth-PAN.
