Hi all,

Tried searching the forum but could not find anything related to my current issue.

Basically, the problem I have is that if the switch for DEVICE POSITIONING (in Settings>Device>GPS and positioning) is Enabled, then the icon in the status bar lights up, gets a GPS fix, and stays on, even if no apps are open.

It used to disable itself just fine.

Just noticed it today and I don't believe any new apps have been installed to cause the change.

Now I have to keep it disabled until I want to use any of the GPS apps I have, then I need to enable it just to use the app.

Does anyone have any ideas about how to fix?

Thanks in advance.

Reboot, it should be fine after that.

Thanks Arie,
I've rebooted a few times, but the icon always comes back.

Just tried again, and about a minute or so after rebooting, the GPS icon is back.

Maybe I have an app that's continually running in the background requesting the use of GPS, but I can't see anything.

List your installed apps, I can tell you which ones may cause it.

Apart from the standard Nokia Apps (Maps / Drive / Foursquare / Facebook / Twitter / Availability etc)

I have the following apps that may use GPS:
Parking
Compass
Waypoint
GPS Speed
Dashboard Lite
Location 2 sms
Waze

FMobi
Sociality
Mee In
QNeptunea
Tweetian
Nelisquare
QUI
Molome

I realise there's a few crossovers betweens, but I'm still deciding which one is working best for me.

One thing I have noticed, is that my camera hangs since installing the paid for version of Front Camera - not sure if that could be something.

I don't think I have anything else that may require GPS, but I'll post a complete list if you need me to.

Thanks again.

Had the same thing in the beginning, i forget which app caused it but look through the settings for your apps and make sure you aren't telling them to track you

Right, I've finally managed to get a screeshot of my apps running in terminal.

Can anyone see if there is something there that may be causing the GPS to continually run.

Thanks.
