n900 navigation programs use /home/user/MyDocs/.maps for maps
However I didn't find description how to use this maps with n900. And I don't see png tiles in the archives.
Of course it is possible to download map for the area with navigation program directly to n900. But downloading of large amount of files are not recommended by OSM community because hosting is not free. So it would be nice if there was a solution to use predownloaded files from PC for a specific area. Like it works with ovi maps for many countries and cities.
There is a http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Planet.osm with list of sites (http://downloads.cloudmade.com for example) which provides Extracts of OSM for different countries and regions.
