I recently purchased an N810, wanted just an internet appliance. I was a little disappointed with the loading of flash heavy pages so I did some looking and heard Opera is a little better. Unfortunately, I have been unable to install it. I searched this site extensively and couldn't find a solution so I am hoping someone can help me out. When I try to install it I get a msg "Application list partially refreshed. Some catalogues unavailable. Check catalogue details." When I look at the details I see Opera Catalog http//deb.opera.com/maemo/non-free/binary-armel/Packages.gz 404 not found.

As I said I am a total noob with this device so if I need to be doing something differently please let me know. Many thanks

If this is an actual paste, you're missing a colon in "http://". Address (in application manager) for the repository should be "http://deb.opera.com/maemo". Also make sure there is no slash at the end.

Also, you can find a install link e.g. on http://labs.opera.com/news/2010/07/21/ .

You are correct, just a typo with the http: I used the link you listed and got the same response "Application list partially refreshed. Some catalogues unavailable. Check catalogue details." but now when I check details there are 2 Opera Catalogs and the second one says, Opera Catalog http://deb.opera.com/maemo/dist/chin...el/Packages.gz 404 not found.

Is there a way to delete the 2 opera catalog entries to start over clean?

Please read this entire reply before doing anything. :-)

Go to Application manager -> (menu) -> Tools -> Application catalogue... Then select catalogue you want to delete and click Delete and then OK.

Also, based on the error you copied here I noticed that you may probably running Chinook, which is the old OS release for N810. Please go to Control panel and select About product. The latest Diablo update is version 5.2008.43-7. I think anything containing mention of 2007 is Chinook. See http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware for reflashing instructions if needed.

Yep, you're right, I have v2.2007.51-3. Is it really hard to reflash? I don't have anything loaded (no docs, apps, etc) so no worries if all is lost. But I don't want to brick it either.

Don't worry about it, reflashing is easy. As for the link, sorry, I pasted the wrong one before. Please see http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware instead.

OK, I loaded Flasher-3.5 onto my XP machine along with the latest OS version update. But the instructions for Flasher state to use '$' in the command line but Windows is not recognizing that command. Are there different directions for doing this via a win pc?
