can anyone teach me how to keep a deb file of the products we purchase from the OVI store?

i cannot figure out how to just have the deb.

i ran into an issue with ovi wanting me to re-purchase the products i already paid for becuase it said that i have reached my download limit.

that doesnt seem right being that somethimes you have to flash your device, and it forces you to redownload from the site and not allow you when using the repos....and then i had to have my device replaced by nokia.

any help is appreciated.

thank you.

I change the user agent in my desktop browser to that of the N900 - I can then download and save the .deb files there.

Use a filemanager that lets you access those areas or with xterminal use copy eg:

First list the .deb to find out its name:

Code:
ls /var/tmp/
The output would provide eg: Zenbound1.2.deb

Then copy it to wherever you want (this case the root folder in the default file manager)

Code:
cp /var/tmp/Zenbound1.2.deb /home/user/MyDocs
This is important. I do not know at what point the Application Managers cleans the cache, so it is recommended that you do this during the installation.

i was able to change this file:

/home/user/.osso/hildon-application-manager

i changed the value of "clean-after-install" from a 1 to a 0 "zero"

then i found a deb for angrybirds 3 in the /var/tmp/

but it only worked for one file...it didnt hold my airport one.

Arghhhh. Just had OVI refuse me a re-download of Zenbound after a reflash. I have emailed them but they will probably just point me to the T&C's of OVI store.

Next time I will have to grab those .debs, why do they think we will continue to use such trash?

Hi ceroberts75:

I'm trying to change configuration parameters for hildon-application-manager, in order to download deb packages when installing them.

But I haven't been able to find this "clean-after-install" key...

I've installed Qole's Gconf Editor. Could you please tell me how to find this key so as to edit it?

Thanks,
Sebas.

i think one of the latest PR update has removed this file (it's not gconf key, but a path to physical file), thus this tips is no longer working
waiting for someone who has similar tips for PR 1.3
