One of the most Interesting and Rarest UnReleased Nokia SmartPhones. Powerful multimedia smartphone, which was planned to release in the Q2 2010, but, due the fact that Nokia bet on the touch Symbian ^ 3 smartphones, this unit never saw the light, becoming the point in the "Push-Button" branch of N-Series.
For now, it is known of the existence of only 3 Nokia N87 Prototypes:
- Nokia N87 Corolla RM-521 Prototype B1.6 HWiD 1605.
Color: Silver. SoftWare: for the moment, wiped.
- Nokia N87 Corolla RM-521 Prototype B1.8 HWiD 1807.
Color: Black. SoftWare:: There is. One of the early build.
- Nokia N87 Corolla RM-521 Prototype C.
Color: Bronze. SoftWare: There is. Close to the retail version.
Actually the software, as well as the unit HW - in fact, already PreRetail sample. This Unit, in late 2010, left the American eBay, for 800$+ in an unknown direction.
Based on research of all three devices I write the most complete and most accurate actual characteristics of Nokia N87, with whom he was supposed to appear on the market.

I have 2 official MockUps of Nokia RM-581 "Columbus".
And I don't know what's harder and rare to get - these internal mockups or Columbus itself.
As abt N87, yep. At the moment my one is wiped. I'm looking for FW.
Btw, 2nd N87 - Black one is on the hands of my familiar. He make few videos of worked one. U can check it

Okay who uses a 3.0 inch screen to watch videos?
And at that pathetic resolution. With that pathetic washed out screen.

At first I thought this was like the HTC TouchPRO.... on close inspection its worse.
Its got nothing on the HTC G1 or the Moto CLIQ.

And its about 1.5 years later than them, while sporting the same software, unlike HTC/Moto who were delayed by developing their own new software for said handsets.

Wow, we knew Nokia was behind at the times.... but this gives a whole new perspective if they were going to try competing it with the iPhone 4 or SGS2.

2010 is the year N950 suppose to launch with Maemo 6. Look at this compare with the N950, and Nokia even not choosing Maemo when compared with Symbian. Amazing!

The screens of the first four iPhones were only half an inch bigger and people watched plenty of videos on them. And until the iPhone 4, Apple's phones had a lowly PPI of 168, whereas this Nokia device would have had 267 PPI. I agree that Nokia was behind the times, but I don't think the screen is all that bad, and definitely not pathetic.
