I just want a decent cli music client, so I have decided to try and port MOC to the N900.

Would it be too hard to build one from scratch?

Problem is, I don't know where to start. Any suggestions?

If you have never had any programming experience, I suggest you start from scratch. Figure out what programming language you'd like to learn, and then take the very basics of that exact programming language.

Just a lot do dependencies that'll take some time installing

I've just managed to get it up and running on the N900, without using the debian package. I compiled it from source with mp3 support. You also need the libsamplerate in order to actually make it play mp3s.

I'll see if tomorrow I can pack it all on a .tgz for direct unpacking (no .deb sorry).
