i know how the OP feels about N900. it can not compete in speed department with much faster OSs. and the desktop experience is unique, but too small screen for comfortable use. one of a kind, it was destined to death. it is not a good desktop alternative and its apps selection limit its usability and speed of use that mature ecosystems have. despite all that, there is something special about it.

n900 is fine for all those tasks for me..
