Some of you may have played Elite Beat Agents or Osu Tatakae Ouendan on the DS before, and I've always thought it'd be a neat game with more songs... So recently, I found Osu!, a windows and iphone clone of the game that's really really well done, and was wondering if anyone would be interested in making a Maemo version of it.

Website: http://osu.ppy.sh/

It would totally make more sense than the iphone version, with the N900's resistive screen and stylus making it a much more reasonable game to play, and would completely bypass the current iphone version's need for jailbreak in order to run. Computing-wise it should be no problem (for the N900, at least, not sure about the older generation hardware) as I understand, just whether or not someone is willing to make the effort to port it... It really is a beautiful game, I highly recommend the PC version to anyone willing to go through their humongous selection of songs to find some songs they recognize (the current Osu! community is strongly associated with the japanese animation and gaming circles, so a majority of the songs are in those genres, but there are bits and pieces of other music, and you CAN make your own maps with the PC version and upload them to the community if you so desire)

Here's some videos of the iphone version, makes me want to laugh at how difficult it is for them to maneuver over the small circles and that they need to block a huge portion of the screen with their hands cause of the capacitative screen:

Christmas Eve: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dvalsvi4AaI
Green Day's Boulevard of Broken Dreams: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7XgkPmdTvU
Still Alive (second half of video): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apn-btfGXpk

Some more videos could be found at their channel, but think its all of the PC version, but this game really should be played on a touchscreen, IMO

Is it open source? I couldn't find any mention of it, so probably not. It looks like the desktop version is using .NET, and the iPhone version looks more like a compatible client than a port.

Your best bet may be to write a new client from scratch that is compatible to their song library. I think that would be a very worthwhile (and fun!) project.

There is no GNU/Linux version yet and, the iPhone version is a reverse-engineered, not a port.
