Should the search be possible without internet connection or uses n900 internet to location places on ovi maps?

My understanding is that the search is a server-side function (as the maps are bitmap, so contain no searchable text).

thats too bad .

How is it at the Ovi Maps 3.0 in symbian phones? Same thing?

Is not working for me on WinXP.

After installing the specified version ... I run it and it would not work until I updated to the latest.

After that its just telling me that it can not find the phone.
And it wants me to put it in PC Suite Mode.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Success !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Turns out I stupidly downloaded nokia map updated ... not map dowloader ... stupid ... stupid ... stupid ...

Got the right one and it worked like a charm.
But Ovi Maps 1.0 really sucks ...

I have the same problem. Map loader just keeps waiting for the phone. Any other thoughts?

same problem here doesnt work in mass storage or pc suite mode

Actually on symbian phones it allows search in offline mode.
