I'm visiting lots of strange locations lately and I haven't found any great solution when it comes to maps/navigation without network for regular mobile phones. Luckly I have a great sat device that handles calls/navigation when out of network.

Now, I have iphone, androids,windows, n9/n900.

So far I haven't found a great solution for offline maps. It simply not working when you switching County and zooming on maps.

What's the best solution for iOS, Android, windows or maemo/meego. If you have any other platform with a great working solution I'm all intressting in that too.

Is it possible to Download and entire map to be able to zoom in out around the globe?

Nothing beats a good old Nokia C5. Offline maps just work!

It does? All maps pre loaded and you can zoom out zoom in without data for very long time when travelling? No issues what so ever except, possibly old maps?

It works perfectly for me. You install map data once and that's all.

Ok, thx. I will pick up some old devices if I can and try them. Can't tell you about the model. Lets focus on the offline maps

If the openstreetmap coverage is good enough for you in your target area, try navit. Works on n900/android. I do not know for n9 and iphone for sure.
