Have tried everything to solve this, any ideas?

I have a Navman Bluetooth GPS unit, when I try to pair it I cant because the password is "navman" and the app only accepts numbers, the letters are greyed out?

Maemo Mapper did not need pairing via passcode, is there another method I can use.

I tried pasting in letters and using handwriting but they are not accepted.

On some devices I've modifed the passcode displayed by the N800 to '0000'.

You can change it on the N800 to whatever you like as long as its numeric "0000" wont work as the GPS receiver will only accept "navman"

Your right it does suck, I hoped there might be a way to edit the system (avoiding the GUI) or even pair in terminal somehow.

It should be in /etc/bluetooth/rfcom.conf , but there's no rfcom.conf...

Alphanumeric got only introduced in Bluetooth this March - Navman is quite unlikely to have that already implemented. It might be worth while trying 628626 (phone alpha key mapping) or 6e61766d616e (hex - oops, no, hex won't do, but a similar decimal mapping might) - if they did not intentionally tie their hardware to their software or driver via a truly proprietary keying scheme, it is quite likely that they used some trivial mapping like that...

Interstingly, when I use the same Navman GPS in Maemo Mapper the satalite symbol appears at the top of the screen but when I click the symbol nothing is paired.

And as long as I have Maemo Mapper running in the background it appears I can use "map" it looks like it can share the GPS data.

Just wish I could pair it and run it properly.

OS2008 doesn't seem to find my "i.Trek" gps at all.
I haven't tried Maemo Mapper yet, but Wayfinder doesn't recognize it. Is there a way to make it work?

Update: just had to take battery out of GPS unit. After reinserting it and starting the unit - it became visible.
