got it mostly working, it is very similar.
cloned OS2008 boots as expected, old oS2007 boots with new kernel and initfs but some stuff doesn't work so it is not completely usable
will upload updated initfs flasher in hour or less

Maybe it's a crazy idea and it's not even worth it, but would it be possible to extract the various images from the fiasco bin, extract them on a partition in an sd card (with an sd reader in a computer), put the card in the tablet and boot from it?
(this is to keep the old os on the internal flash and install the new one on the card only, without flashing it first).
