The problem is after PR1.2 update.

If I try to select several contacts from SMS sending menu, it is 99.5% chance that the contact won't be underlined and system will say "Unknown contact" when i press "Send".

Problem does not appear when I select 1 contact.

Usually when sending to several recepients only the first one in the list is not recognised. Sometimes it works if you leave only the first (or the last) name of the first contact, but that means these names should be unique. Yes it is a serious bug anyway. I do not know if it has been reported yet. So you may try reporting it on bugzilla here.

AFAIK the 'space' between the first name and last name can cause the issue.

Example :

Foo Boo, Abc Xyz
In this case only Foo will be recognized

Foo,ABC
Both the contacts will be recognized.

But they appear with space in my phone book!
And there wasn't any problem before 1.2pr
Someone has a workaround?

Try using "" around the names if you write the spaces.

No

You know, it is appearing when I select multiple contacts by putting tick on them.
I don't like the idea of putting ticks around every contact name.

I am a little bit experienced linux user (several years, 3 servers) and already tried it btw.

Maybe there is a "cache" for contacts? or I can try to export/import them?

i also did notice this after the pr1.2 update.
Actually now it recognises contacts by the name in the "Nick Name" field of the contact.
Try writing the names which are in the nick name field, they ll work perfectly.

just write part of their first name, or their surname. Don't use space

If ypou have a name:

John Thomas

You can type anything in the TO box:

joh
hn
tho
oma
homas

and it will find him, but it WONT find spaces

Think of it like a SQL query:

SELECT * FROM contacts where firstName LIKE '%joh%' OR lastName like '%joh%' OR nickname LIKE '%joh%'

There is no fullname search

You only get the popup asking you to tick users if there are > 1 user mathcing that query. Either be more specific or just tick the names!

If it bugs you so much, put something unique in the nickname field?!

I do this all the time and have never seen this. And most of my contacts get ticks around their names automatically when I add them. I wonder if maybe there are those in your address book that are not organized properly? For example, where you have the full name in "First name" and not split properly between the two fields? So for a friend named "Foo Bar", maybe you have:
First Name: Foo Bar
Last Name: {blank}

I had this issue with some of the addresses in my contact list, where some looked valid, but OVI maps would fail to come up when I pressed the address in the contact list. When opened the contact card, the full address was all in one field, not split across the 4 or 5 like it should have been. When I corrected that for the few that were wrong, mapping worked fine for them. Maybe this is similar?
