vpn9c is a package which bundles vpnc user space vpn client
with a launcher gui.

[ EDIT 2012-10-23]: version 1.0 now available in Ovi Store
so rest of this message is irrelevant. Note expecially
that developer mode is not required anymore.

To get this package working fully on device developer mode needs
to be enabled -- Some credentials not available in unknown origin
are required and getting package to ovi store requires some
bureucracy (see below).

Go to https://www.nixuopen.org/projects/too/vpn9c/ to
get the latest version.

--

The "problem" with ovi store submission is cryptographic content
distributed in the package. When checking relevant buttons in
"Legal" page, the following request is presented:

A copy of the commodity classification ruling (CCATS)
confirming classification of the content under ECCN 5D992,
as a mass market encryption item under section 742.15(b)(2)
of the Export Administration Regulations OR a copy of the
“Notification” described in 742.15(b)(1), must be attached.

There is plenty of sofware with encryption functionality in
software distributed from common file servers (ssh, ssl, openvpn,
etc). So getting required "documents" for vpn9c should not be
too hard. But it still requires effort...

... if there is anyone who can provide tips how to proceed I'd be
grateful -- assimilating all the info 742.15(b)(1) (or 2) leads to
is so tiresome for such a free software project...

uh, what?

I don't even know where to begin...how to download and install the software...

it is no ovi store app, so i tried
apt-get install vpn9c
but that doesn't work

i'm already WAY out of my depth here

would i just install
vpn9c_0.547_armel.deb
and that's it?
or do i need some other package?

and what do i do from there on?
hell, this is complicated!

one more question:
i filled in the config fields and clicked SAVE.
all good but now with every new start of VPN9C, the password field is empty and the LOAD button gives me
'Importing ... failed: No such file or dir'
Since then, there is no save button anymore... i gotta fill in the password each time

is this a known bug or is it just mine gone waco and there is a way i can reinitialize things again?
