I was trying to install google play store and have managed to start deleting content inside /opt/alien without having removed the Android support from my device.

I decided to go for a factory reset since my device goes as far as booting, showing the Jolla logo, the logo the disappears and after that it shuts down. I am assuming that it will try to start the Android services which are obviously now corrupt.

I used the factory restore process via telnet, however at some point I have set a lock code which I no longer remember since I have disabled the device locking from the settings and I was not using the lock function at all. However the device was remembering the lock code and asked for it during the restore process. I tried several potential numbers and ended up using all my five tries. Now the device is locked for 24hrs.

I have contacted jolla care already as I assume I will probably have to ship the device for flashing and will probably give another try to some possible codes I might have used tomorrow.

In the meantime I was wondering if there is any other way to access the file system and restore opt/alien files, or any other ideas??

Also I am open to any other suggestions.

you might use ssh to access the file system in recovery mode?

@ZogG, as they say, the problem sits between the chair and the keyboard.

@yjeanrenaud, I haven't tried to connect again to the phone since it wont let me yet. However, I assume that if I can access the file system, i wil need a copy of missing files or even better a vanilla /opt/alien folder I could simply copy in and hope that the phone will then boot.

have you talked with people at IRC (freenode.net)?

#jollamobile or #sailfishos if I remember correct.

Thanks, I will also try there as well. In the meantime can somebody with a working device check and let me know if there is a minimum required number of digits for the device lock code? (eg at least 4 or similar?)

I set a code once and it had to be 5 digits.

After several attempts, I managed to find my lock code and did a factory reset. The phone is now booting OK. Thanks again @jolla-pirate for the 5 digit info, this helped a lot to remember what I might have used

Yesterday I found out that Jolla is not really a seaworthy phone. Had a little sailing trip with Jolla packed to a "waterproof" map pouch. Weather was a little bit rough and a fair amount of water came into our boat. Obviously I hadn't closed that map pouch properly so I ended up with Jolla swimming in the map pouch.

Looks like Jolla still boots, but gives strange errors, like "battery temperature too low". Better to let it dry for few days and the try again..
