I know the document viewer in the N9's Maemo 6x is based on work done for Calligra.
Anyone know if there's something more feature-packed coming as-a-result of ongoing work?

This looks to be more substantial, but it's Calligra Active:

Which is more for tablets, & was simply tested on the N950.

I've been talking with a dev in the comments here:

My latest post isn't approved yet, hopefully he can clarify everything.

This is all the other relevant info. I can find, nothing clear-cut as yet:
(I wouldn't be surprised if I've missed something amongst it all!)

I would like this to be also updated for N900... I use it now on my Kubuntu desktop, and I like it more than "libreOffice", even if it lacks some (a Lot) of tools...

Looking better for Maemo6x, see comments on these 2 pages:

So Calligra Mobile is deprecated in favor of Active.
It is not only for tablets, I was wrong in my OP...
Editing that will be added to Active soon, can be repackaged for Maemo 6x.
However it'd be good if someone can make the UI more suitable for SwipeUX.
Otherwise it will work, but look somewhat out of place.
Hopefully it'll also be do-able for Maemo5x....

Is there anyone that is able to help with the packaging for Maemo 6x?
Anyone who might be able to twk the Calligra Active UI, such that it adheres to SwipeUX guidelines?

There's only one guy working on this, & those are two things he doesn't have time to do.

Once he gets close to actually releasing betas, I will have a crack at packaging myself.
But tweaking the UI, I doubt I'd have enough time to work-out how to do that.

My last response to him here:
Apologies for the delay in my response!!
I've no idea how to package for Maemo6, but once it gets closer to being needed I can try.
Otherwise I will find someone who can...
Hopefully we can find someone to make it look more "SwipeUX-y" too!
So no rough time-frame on the 1st betas at all, is within the next 6mth possible?
(Yes, I did get an email when you posted last time)
It hasn't been approved & responded-to from here yet:

I really hope he can get something out within the next 6months.

I think I'll lodge a enhancement request soon...
When I have a minute, so busy lately, feel free to lodge one before me.
If anyone has some ideas/thoughts, please weigh-in.

Given symbian just got it, any chance if Microsoft office? :P
Otherwise, there has been little movement from any developer on this, so yeh let's open an enhancement request and hope Nokia do something.

Office is never coming, senior management & MS would never allow it.
I've filed an enhancement request:

Does anyone know about this supposed open sourcing of the Harmattan Office UI that I mention in the bug report (http://www.calligra.org/news/calligr...ttan-office/)?

I would love to help out in this endeavour to get editing capabilities, but I'm a real novice programmer.

I'll answer my own question. The nice people on #calligra IRC pointed me in the right direction for the sources:

http://harmattan-dev.nokia.com/pool/.../office-tools/

In case anyone is interested. Presumably there isn't any obstacle in using the UI to base editing capabilities on is there? (again, my novice's view of the situation)

You wouldn't think so if they directed you to the sources. But its a bit more difficult adding editing that just mucking around with the UI. I wonder though if it could be stuck on to the front of gnumeric....

Sure, but I thought that if they have editing capabilities in Calligra Active soon, then these could perhaps be added by tweaking the existing Harmattan Office UI.
