Two other quick mentions.
I get this same error if I'm using either Xterm or Roxterm.
The only thing I've really changed on my end since a reflash was installing libvte to remove the pixel border and I have a slightly altered /usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/base file so Xkbd doesn't explode on me but that's all that I can honestly think of.

Download and in the place where you downloaded it:
sudo mkdir /opt/adom
sudo cp adom.tar.gz /opt/adom
sudo cd /opt/adom
sudo tar xzvf adom.tar.gz
./adom
Make sure you have at least 13MB free space in your /opt beforehand.
