There is no pre-made image yet.
Thanks for the hint.

I followed the installation steps (Used last MeeGo image from 2011-02-22 instead of the trunk link in your wiki) and it seems to work. Hildon desktop is started after a reboot and I'm able to run applications.

But I also have some problems:
1. Every application I started looks very ugly. See this Screenshot:
It seems to be a kind of resolution problem?

2. How to change the background picture (In your youtube video there is an desktop image)?

Thank you very much!

Either set your screen to 16bpp, or upgrade to at least hildon-desktop-2.2.141c-9.1

Same as on Maemo.
Code:
> ls ~/.backgrounds/
background-1.png background-6.png thumbnail-2.png
background-2.png background-7.png thumbnail-3.png
background-3.png background-8.png thumbnail-4.png
background-4.png cache.info
background-5.png thumbnail-1.png

Yes, N900 is one of our targets.

Thank you but I can't imagine what "16bpp" means. 16 bit per pixel? If so, where I can change this value?

In case of hildon-desktop I also does not know where to get bu I assume it will be available in your OBS repo sooner or later?

Please let me know if I can help in a not too technical way. Maybe I can upgrade your wiki with information given here?

"zypper update"? :>

The package was available in OBS in the moment I answered. (How would I know the exact version number? )

Thank you very much! This posting is written from Chromium running on top of your hildon version on top of MeeGo core. Great!

Guys, I'm bipolar about libhildonfm.
Do we want to keep it, or do we want to get back to standard GTK+ file selector dialogs?

Both have upsides and downsides.
GTK+ file selector is not that touch friendly. And using it would require "dehildonizing" this part of Maemo apps.
But keeping libhildonfm would mean that Maemo apps would use a different file selector than the rest of the system.

Maybe we could make standard GTK+ file selector more touch friendly?

Consider what's the solution between KDE and Gnome.

At least in my KDE box, GTK applications use KDE file picker. For some time it was messed up in Firefox, but that was because the application was not a real GTK one.

Isn't there any Freedesktop standard regarding file picker?

From what I understand of it, I would prefer to keep lihildonfm, making this as easy as possible to use preexisting maemo apps.

great work btw
