If they're charging for something that is freely available, then it is a scam.

they are charging for hosting the files on their server.. linux is free , that doesnt mean some one wouldnt charge for downloading from their server.. more or so its convenience factor.. the luxury of having every fw at one place, water is free ..so why do stores ,restaurants charge for it .. and i am not even talking bout packaged water !

Because everyone sees us very interested about firmwares and directly install leaked firmwares, they make such a trick to let us buy this firmware. Of course someone did buy it.

lol charging for downloading free stuff is a scam? then everything from rapidshare to gamespy to filefront is a scam. sincde they charge you to download with premium speeds.

no it's not a scam. I had a query and I posted it. I am one of those who do not post until they have something useful to talk about. I didn't find any activity on this topic on this forum so had to sign up to post this query. The version which I have is 20.2010.36.2_002, so wanted to know if I was missing something. Moreover, I think this will be useful for someone who has bricked their phone... so thought it may be useful... without being a scam :P

Just being curious - where is the whole firmware available people are talking about here in case I brick my N900?
