N900 audio quality is much better than a few HTC smart phones I tested. I wonder if that is inherited to N9 which should be another reason for me to migrate to N9 rather than to others. Can someone confirm this?

There is a thread on such an audio comparison. Search for it.

You won't be disappointed with N9 audio quality through headphones. It's among the top together with N8 and iphone 4. It beats the pants off Samsung Galaxy S2. I prefer N9's audio to iphone 4.

A Nokia insider (Konttori - thanks DeeGee!) noted that the speakers of the N9 were toned down a bit due to resonance issues and did not match those of the N900. AFAIR.

I prefer the N9 sound than the N8, louder, more bass, clear stuff even with nokia earphones is cool. No egalizer just a dolby headphones but sounds great. The N8 had an egalizer but the sound stayed a bit rough i always thought.

i have both, N900 and the n9 and still use both regularly due to more storage on the n900. With no headphones the n900 sounds better, but with headphones, the n9 is the clear winner.

Guess that means you have a 16GB N9... My N900 has 32GB+16GB MicroSD so it still loses on storage.

But yes, completely agree on the headphone audio on the N9 being far better than the N900.
