Not sure if it would make sense to dev with anything but qt after this ...especially if WM hardware support is on par with Maemo/Sybian.

If Android and iPhone could squeeze Qt support some time soon(looks to be pretty likely) - the picture would be complete.

Symbian, for sure.

Windows Mobile, maybe too. Don't know how strict Microsoft is. Don't care TBH...

Android, if Qt runs in Java VM. Which it doesn't, as its not a native Java application. So no Adnroid either.

Apple won't allow competition for e.g. Cocoa Touch. They force you to only use their own APIs. That is why no App Store applications collaborate together. Therefore, I only see Qt for iPhone OS happening in jailbreak.

Not sure what you mean. I was talking about possible future universality of developing with Qt.
In any case Symbian is a dieing breed.

WM is the only thing i can use for the time being until Nokia decides to fix their PIM atrocities.
It is only recently that Nokia even become a candidate for me as I must have a slide-out keyboard...

Android is a joke with their Java approach.
Things are gradually changing as they open more to the native code execution. Have a look what people are talking about around the net. It is very much not impossible for Qt to be supported in the near future.

It's happening. Time will tell...

Yes, via Qt Jambi, or the native path. Qt Jambi project became community supported IIRC.

Looks rather premature. The reason it is unlikely is because of Apple control. Not because it is possible or not. iPhoneOS is UNIX under the hood without X11.

There is also Qyoto, .NET bindings.

(This thread is more appropriate in Development and would benefit with a merge with http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=32618 )

One step closer: http://maemo.org/packages/view/libqt4-maemo5-dev/

These are very alpha-ish development files, but anybody using the current 4.5 port should have a look at them, try them out better sooner than later and start preparing the migration. Then you would be not only on the solid and official Fremantle-Qt path but also in the path of Harmattan, Symbian, Windows Mobile, Linux desktops of several sizes...

PS: this might be useful http://wiki.maemo.org/Miniature/Deve...Qt4_for_Maemo5

Glad to read positive developer feedback about the Qt 4.6 port: http://taschenorakel.de/michael/2009...aemo-it-works/

Any other developers trying Qt 4.6? Warning: if you are developing on the Qt 4.5 "community" branch and you don't look at all at this official release coming you will get a surprise sooner than later. Consider finish your current release in order to get to Extras and start working in the new release already on top of this 4.6 port.

I think you just have to enable extras-devel and install libqt4-maemo5-dev package by

Code:
apt-get update
fakeroot apt-get install libqt4-maemo5-dev
happy hacking

Can we take that as a hint that 4.6 for Fremantle will be released early Q1 ? 'Cause Q1 can be end of March and there is little point waiting nearly 5 months in extras-devel.
