Never had a W7 phone so I do not know what kind of icons it uses, but looks like you put some work to it and it does not look bad

very nice, just give it another name, won't get too many fans out here mimicking ms even if it is awesome. Btw hey don't look exaclty like ms which gives them a life of their own and justifies a name like maemono icon pack, or whitecons or whatever

Make them transparent, then make one set for each color you like

unfortunately yes, or you can make a generator app that makes them live, user selectable color
