Hello,

never tried the N8 but from what I hear it's pretty good. Especially with the Belle update. As for Lumia, well I got one from work for free and after using it for 2 weeks I gave it away and bought the N9. Lumia is boring, super boring. They say there are over 80.000 apps on the marketplace but most are useless crap. I've downloaded more apps, and great apps on N9.

Lumia also lacks in basic functionalities and options one has gotten used to on a Nokia phone. Everything is elementary. And don't forget, windows 8 is around the corner and there is no guarantee the Lumias will be capable to update. This means it will be obsolete, more so than it has for almost two years now!

I'd recommend N8, N9 or 808 Pureview.

The Lumia is very basic. And if you need just a basic phone for calls, text, and maybe e-mail, you could get one for less than 50 EUR.
There's absolutely no multitasking on the Lumia and the app store doesn't offer many useful apps either (and if they're there, you wouldn't find them in this mess of an app store).
The webbrowser on the Lumia is good. Not really standards-conform, but really fast.

They have intentions for at least one more firmware update. After that, we don't know. N9 maintenance will mostly be handled by a subcontractor from then on.

I actually use N9 as my dumbphone and iphone 4s as my smartphone (or Lumia 800). the reason is simple. N9 has a good quality call, and I love the screen notifications and one view for all your SMS, IMs and skypes. However, internet, searches, email etc., is far superior on 4s and Lumia.

^ You don't quit do you?

I didn't play (extensively) with a Lumia but did so with a HTC model. Didn't find it captivating. The N9 is captivating except its lack of features/apps because its in its infancy. The Lumia doesn't have that excuse. In fact I played with the N8 the other week and got some hands-on with Belle...and I honestly prefered it over Mango (shocker)!

Until Windows Phone can have that "wow factor" that comes with Android or iOS, it has no hope of succeeding, it will be a niche.
