there was no quick fix to the application, so i am afraid it's with the Cssu team to update wirh a fix there.

i'm away for work for several weeks, but i'm hoping to see better qtquick support in fremantle so i can backport the harmattan version when i get back - or if someone else wants to take that code and do it in the mean time.

Thanks for the app. Question though- would it be possible to implement a disable screensaver toggle in the harmattan version? Maybe a seek scale too but the screensaver kill would be great.
Thanks again.

Anyone figured out a fix for using this with VLC 2.0.1 Twoflower?

Cheers!

Sorry, been away working for a while. I can look at this if you are still interested?

You mean an option to keep the screen on, yes?

Thanks for the feedback.

What's the problem with VLC 2.0.1 - just not working at all? Does it still include an Http control interface?

cheers

Okay just had a look at this on Linux with 2.0.1 - wow! They've really changed the interfaces.

There are significant changes to the way that VLC needs to be configured to support HTTP control and also they have changed the structure of the messaging they use.

Looks like you need to edit the ../lua/http/.hosts file to whitelist any IPs you want to connect from and also teh way the interface is enabled has been changed as well in VLC settings/preferences.

I'd recommend having a search on VLC's site for your system:

http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=100471

http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=98297

http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic....=98243#p328292

Even once configured the changes in the messaging format mean it's still pretty unusable - although I have been able to control playback, volume, playlist etc. Haven't worked out if media browsing requires some additional config on the server or not (but isn't working on the client).

Looks like a new version of VLC-remote would be required to support VLC 2.0+

EDIT: Apologies - you can tell I've not been around much for a while - the below is a fix for the Meego/Harmattan version. I'll look at the Fremantle version in a bit...

If anyone is feeling adventurous (and already has the full package installed) you can download and try the following binary (N.B. This is not a package/installer):

https://www.dropbox.com/s/z6awjsmew5dv7c7/vlcremoteqml

Download and copy to /home/user then
Code:
chmod +x vlcremoteqml; ./vlcremoteqml
I've made some changes to the message parsing which should(!) support both vlc 1 and vlc 2 branches.

Obviously you still need to configure vlc on your server.

I've only had a chance to test this against a Linux server, but playback control, media info including album art and directory browsing are working again. getting the directory browsing was just a case of changing the default folder from '~/' (home) to '/' - not happy as this may cause some problems and is less than ideal - but it looks like the lua backend doesn't cope with '~/' as a directory anymore (used to work on all platforms).

If this works for a few people I'll look to get it packaged up.

I know it's a very old post but regarding 'seek scale' (a seek bar?) I think you'll find what you want if you press the orange header on the player screen to reveal more information.

Here's an updated deb for the N900 Maemo5 version. (0.7.0)

In my quick tests it's working fine against VLC 2.0.1 - linux and windows
Should still support VLC 1.0 as well.

Only thing seems problematic is seeking with the seek bar. Suspect something else has changed in the API.

Please let me know how this goes and I'll package it all up fully.
