hi!

i was just on my bike, enyoing the beautiful sun, with my n900 in pocket and bluetooth earphones, and was thinking it is was possible to somone ( excluding me, with my lack of programing skills ) to write some kind of app, witch will tell me the time! i have like 6 buttons on Motorola S9 HD, and on press of a answer button ( when not on the phone, or is not ringing ), nokia would pause the music, and tell me the time, something like that!

if i want to know what time it is, i have to stop, get n900 out of the pocket, get it out of the protective case, and look up the time

anyother suggestions are welcome!

Kristijan

If n900 supports these buttons it is not hard to implement. Pair with your headset, run dbus-monitor (from console) on phone and press button. Stop dbus-monitor by pressing ctrl+c. See, if there was an event from headphones. If there is, you are nearly done.
You need a script, that would pause player (i think, that it can be done by sending dbus message), generate string with current time and pass it to espeak. Then continue playing.
You can use dbus-scripts, ET-Prolog, or Shepherd for waiting for a button press.
