Hi all,

it's now almost 3 weeks that i play around with the n9 and i'm very satisfied. i did update to 1.1 (kind of a pain in the neck, tried 2 days without success, resetting, clearing, uninstalling apps, nothing...decided to flash image and install the update straight on the fresh install, that did it).

but: i can't su to the device.
after devel-su and rootme i get: can't set groups, operation not permitted.
tried also the ssh login, no chance.
i googled around, read averything i could find related, but still no solution. i have dev-mode enabled, non-store sources enabled, just a few apps installed.
as i said before, i did flash the original image and then applied immediately the update, i think that even re-flashing again won't address this issue.

any hints?

cheers.

hi F2thaK,

thanks for your quick reply.

i already was reading that thread, but there are no solutions for me.
the topic is about changing the ssh root access.

my problem is that i can't change to the devel-su account.
after typing devel-su and the passwd i get: can't set groups, operation not permitted. the passwd is rootme, as i tried a different passwds and get: su: incorrect password.

cheers,

A quick google shows these two helpful threads:

http://www.fir3net.com/UNIX-/-Linux/...permitted.html
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...-pls-help-767/

Permissions on your devel-su executable got messed up at some point.

chmod 4755 /bin/devel-su

I had the same problem when my update failed and stopped. It had changed some stuff, but the firmware level was still listed as the original. I solved this by flashing the original level from Navifirm. After that, the update ran OK, without any interruption. I wish had some better news for you.
One of the first things I did after the update, was to mount the N9 memory as a Windows drive with Dokan SSHFS. So I now include that drive letter in my Windows backup. So if I have to flash again, I will at least have the data in the Windows backup, if all else on the N9 fails.

Hi all,

hmm, looks like i have to flash again?
it's not the flashing, it's the copying of 55 gb of files back on the device...

thanks anyway for your answers!

hi pepsey,

you'll have to re-flash. at least i did, couldn't find another way trough.
but, on the other side, after reflashing my device (directly 1.1, as downgrade to 1.0 wasn't possible, flashed eMMC too) it feels much more snappier and the battery seems even better.
flashing the device doesn't take long, it's the file-restore (over 50GB in my case) that takes up some time.

cheers,
