No, Vodafone bought Wayfinder, but after seeing that many in the market are going to provide free navigation they closed the doors.

Let me just float an idea

1) Wayfinder is currently owned by Vodaphone, who is not using it.

2) Wayfinder for n810 has some value, on paper.

3) Perhaps the Maemo community could petition Vodaphone to done Wayfinder to the Linux Foundation, who could then provide registration as a premium, for a certain level of donation to the the Linux Foundation.

Kinda like the Premiums one gets for donating to Public Radio/TV?

Seems to me, it like everyone could benefit this way.

or "we" can try to buy it back from vodaphone and put it under free opensource licence ...

we, with the help of any bick bucks corporation which saved money by making ^W selling products based on freesoftware :-)

btw some thread suggested about creating a "navicore server", where did this end ?

We can start a donation for Wayfinder or we can create a server (probably hard).

I am pretty sure than wayfinder isn't probabily buyable.. but then again

Or we could simply give up on this ridiculous charade, learn from the experience and either put our money into someone else who'll give us better support or at least provide FREE navigation service, if it must be so limited in scope.
