Currently we have no maps app showing the Google Streetview data. Javascript webapps like http://www.tomch.com/maemaps.html or my one from http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...7&postcount=10 used to work, but now no streetview images are received in microb.
This seems browser specific, since in firefox 4 beta or opera some images are visible, but then they are very difficult to browse and pan, since these alternative browser don't have hover mode.
I tried to change the microb user agent, but that didn't work, so this might depend on the javascript implementation or simply google fellows decided to stop sending streetview to us and determine the browser type from something other than the user agent.

So we need a streetview app, like the awesome one on android devices. Anyone is interested?

Googles licensing terms for the data are troublesome, basically unless the you have specific deal with google regarding the use of data you're not allowed to (this is why you need to add the google tile servers [at least semi-]manually to most of the map-applications that support google tiles at all).

Thus anyone wanting to make a native application to view that data would need to first get permission from Google (I'm fairly sure the Android one is provided by Google itself...).

Best would be if Google themselves would publish a native version for Maemo but I don't see that happening (being that maemo/meego is a direct competitor for android and great apps mean a lot in platform differentation [in fact they might not-grant to special permission to use the data for same reasons]).

I used streetview on my girlfriends iphone the other day, it was amazing! it didnt stick, or take ages to refresh or anything! I was on Wifi which helped, but omg, it was perfect! Why oj why can the N900 not do that? surely Apple is Google competitor too? Its things like that that make me wish I'd got an iPhone. But I'm glad I didnt, just wish the N900 was better!

Javascript-based streetview works good enough on the N900. Try the macuco2 browser as described in http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=930475
