Has there been any further thought on whether the Neo900 will have some sort of hardware protection to prevent speaker damage?

So happy I've kept my broken n900 all these years. Will you be taking international orders?

Quick reply...
I think so. You [customer] choose the method of shipping, and pay for it. Neo900 company sends the device, to the address you have given. You pay any taxes which may be imposed by customs.
However, I may easily be wrong.
Bumping...
Best wishes.

That depends on where you are. If your country is not on the list, there is still hope, provided you trust random TMO members (that is, err, me).

I suppose you mean this issue ?
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=91325

Joerg commented that
"we're gonna use same class-d amp, we will get some proper simple HPF in place, and we use similar but not original speakers"

HPF = High-Pass Filter.

The reason for changing the speakers in Neo900 is that the N900 original doesn't seem to be easy to find. The replacement speakers are likely to have different characteristics (different impedance), but a class D amplifier is largely tolerant to this.

Hope this helps.

I planed to donate for a long time and I just did it yesterday evening, even after having read this article.

For those who know open pandora, I've waited mine for 4,5 years and I saw every issue described in this article.
Finally, even with such a delay, open pandora is a beast !

And I'me sure Neo900 will rock too (with or without the problem OP-team met) !

Just a question : On Neo900 website, the estimated release is "Q4 2014".
Is there one hope at least one device could be ready before 2015 ?
When looking the project diagram (with every phase "Go-Nogo"/"R&D"/etc.) it seems faaaar too optimistic...

Are orders still counted for the first batch? Or should I wait for the second batch if I donate now?

we got a collection of quite a number of old but informative stuff as well as first 3/4 done draft of proto_V2 schematics online. A special thanks to Nikolaus of GDC for the latter, and thanks to Sebastian/dos1 for preparing this little gem of link collection.
