Pretty much.
To add to my statement ...the consumer population which civilization has cultivated is used to prop up the system...
the consumer as beast of burden is just that.
Yet the desire of the mass of global consumers for positive change can topple aspects of the system ...
for example
ubuntu now has over a billion users.
the music industry as we know it is on it's last legs due to not only illegal downloads..but as well by the simple demonstration now... by one of the pirate bay co-founders (check out what he did)
as so many aspects of "the system" we think are inviolable ...are actual very tenuous and delicate. And the herd of consumers are actually a tidal wave.
Still and still.
On the personal note.
Anything that makes life simpler less confusing less stressful and less hurtful (if at all possible) makes for a happier life.
ie- what are the happiest memories? when young..simpler issues and problems to cope with ..or when one had less...not more.
To deliberately groom one's future memories of the present is important.
It makes for no regrets.
It means you do the very best you can all the time by yourself and those around you.
It also allows the ability to focus better on issues at hand.
It makes for clearly delineated personal rules to follow to ensure your direction.
Makes one a man of principle
Tull did a great song of it.

very fitting.
Makes for certainty not only for oneself but those around you are aware of your certainty..makes for a strength like a stone in a running stream....and the natural ripple effect is positive.

Oh and as is my wont for silly old plonkitudes (platitudes that are terrible)
there was an old story of an emperor who came to power and wanted to change things for the better for his people...
but he was unsure what course of actions to take 1st ...
and went and asked the wisest of his people...a great great man...
(true story too)
and asked him what and how he should accomplish this...
and the answer the old man gave this emperor was ...
"do nothing..."
doing something on such a scale will cause enormous upheaval and will not end well..
Wars with neighbours, uprisings, revolts, revolution,
can't make everyone happy essentially.
(which is sooo true )

So yeah...
keep life simple.
it allows for a greater perspective of what is important, the direction one really wishes to go in
ends up attracting as a consequence more good to oneself ..including good people..
and makes one happier as well.

As far as that bitcoin service you mention just now...
hell ..
if it makes life easier and simpler.
sure
do it
I'd go for it myself if it will make life simpler.
(I'll be checking it out later..)
