Hi, i had a 2 GB Memory Card and decided to try out Gingerbread as a dual boot on my N900.

I followed the steps from this guide : http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=66459

When i ran this command : dpkg -i /home/user/MyDocs/NITDroid-kernel-Mido.Fayad.deb

at the end i noticed this msg : Creating item file for multiboot
sh: /dev/mmcblk0p2: unknown operand

I was not sure if this was an error and proceeded with this command :

leafpad /etc/multiboot.d/1 (then press tab on your touchscreen)

When i pressed tab, i could see a lit of directories and files and when i hit enter, leafpad opened a file named 1, which was blank.

Could some one tell me if i have missed something out? I am running PR 1.3 . I have not rebooted yet as i am not sure if i will be albe to boot back into maemo. Kindly help me out. Thanks.

Don't type dpkg -i /home/user/MyDocs/NITDroid-kernel-Mido.Fayad.deb

Type: dpkg -i nitdroid-kernel-2.6.28-06_final1_armel.deb

You can download it from: open x-terminal and type
sudo gainroot

and

wget http://downloads.nitdroid.com/nitdro...nal1_armel.deb

I see there is some difference between these 2 guides : http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=66459 and http://wiki.maemo.org/Nitdroid_easy_install_on_EMMC ,

Which one is the right one to follow? I followed the first one and i seem to be stuck not finding the item file. Kindly help me please.

Try to follow the instruction:

root
apt-get update
apt-get install nitdroid-installer
y
y again if it asks again
4.You know installed the old installer for Nitdroid, DO NOT RUN IT, after the nitdroid-installer package is installed, close X Term.
5.On a new X Terminal window, type the following commands:
Code:
root
cd /home/user/MyDocs
bzip2 -d NITDroid-0.0.9.tar.bz2
cd /home
mkdir /and
cd /
mount /home /and
cd /and
tar xvf /home/user/MyDocs/NITDroid-0.0.9.tar
dpkg -i /home/user/MyDocs/nitdroid-kernel-2.6.28-06_final1_armel.deb
6. On Xterm:
Code:
leafpad /etc/multiboot.d/1 (then press tab on your touchscreen

It will make it even more fast, because 2 gb card can't handle it, unless you have 6 class or even more higher class memory

I just want to test it. So installing it on a 2 GB card. Doesn matter if its slow.
